PURPOSE: A method for enhancing the quality of voice communication by using a set equalizer, and a portable terminal employing the same method are provided to set up the setting value of an equalizer based on the information of an originator. CONSTITUTION: A control unit sets up a user mode setting value of an equalizer(S100), and judges the operation usage for each mode of the equalizer(S200). If the equalizer is operated in each mode, the control unit transmits the one setting value among plural mode(S300). The control unit sets up the equalizer based on a transmitted setting value(S400). The control unit performs voice communication.
