PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variety of character effects by adding, in a character input screen of a mobile terminal, a graphic element according to key input.

SOLUTION: The character input method for giving a visual effect on a character input in the mobile terminal includes: a first step of selecting a visual character theme for giving the vidual effect on the character input to thereby provide a background according to the selected visual character theme in an input window of the mobile terminal; a second step of accepting a request for character output in the mobile terminal; a third step of adding a visual effect corresponding to the selected visual character theme to input characters; and a fourth step of outputting visual characters with the visual effect added thereto on the provided background.
