PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new thiol compound serving as a raw material for a resin composition having good water resistance, alkali resistance and heat resistance. SOLUTION: The aromatic ether-based polyfunctional secondary thiol compound is represented by general formula (1) [wherein, R<SP>1</SP>is 1C-3C alkyl; R<SP>2</SP>is hydrogen or 1C-3C alkyl which may have a substituent; R<SP>3</SP>is 1C-4C alkyl which may have a substituent, or 1C-4C alkoxy which may have a substituent; m is an integer of 1-2; (a) is 0 or an integer of 1-2; b is an integer of 2-4; c is 0 or an integer of 1-2; with the proviso that a+b is 4].
