<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holey fiber having a significantly-large effective core-sectional area. <P>SOLUTION: The holey fiber includes a core portion, and a cladding portion, positioned on the circumference of the core portion and having holes arranged so as to form triangular lattices around the core portion, wherein d/Λis less than or equal to 0.42; the diameter of the holey fiber is larger than or equal to 580μm; the effective core sectional area is larger than or equal to 15,000μm<SP>2</SP>; and a confinement loss is less than or equal to 0.1 dB/m at the wavelength of 1,064 nm, where d is the hole diameter inμm andΛis the lattice constant of the triangular lattice inμm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
