PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber and a tape-like optical fiber that are hardly broken when local bending occurs, and to provide an optical module using them. SOLUTION: The optical fiber includes: a single layer coated optical fiber 6 including a coating layer 5 composed of a single layer provided on the outer circumference of a bare optical fiber 4 having a clad 3 around the core 2; and a batch coating layer which is installed on the outer circumference of the single layer coated optical fiber 6, and which is composed of an inner coating layer 7 formed in contact with the coating layer 5 and an outer coating layer 8 formed on the outer side of the inner coating layer 7. The inner coating layer 7 has a Young's modulus (E2) lower than the Young's modulus (E1) of the coating layer 5 and the Young's modulus (E3) of the outer coating layer 8.
