The device has a coupling element (13) that is impinged upon by a spring adjusted between a retraction position and a deployed position. A sliding arrangement (20) is coupled directly or indirectly to the coupling element. A sliding element (21) of the sliding arrangement is adjusted when the arrangement is actuated. A steamer (12) vaporizes movement of the coupling element from the deployed position to the retraction position. The coupling element is kept in the deployed position by an actuator assembly e.g. recess (11.21), guideway (11.2) and carrier (13.4) in a parking position. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a drawer.
