<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector that uses cooling air to highly efficiently cool an exit-side polarization plate disposed on an exit surface side of a liquid crystal display panel. <P>SOLUTION: The projector includes: liquid crystal display panels 23R, 23G and 23B as spatial light modulation devices which modulate light received through an incident surface S1 according to image signals and allow the modulated light to exit through an exit surface S2; and a cooling duct configured to flow the cooling air for sequentially cooling the spatial light modulation devices provided for each color light beam. The cooling duct has: a first flow path D1 formed by including the incident surface S1; a second flow path D2 formed by including the exit surface S2; and an interflow part DA where the cooling air flowing through the first flow path D1 merges with the cooling air flowing through the second flow path D2. The interflow part DA is disposed on a downstream side of the cooling air with respect to the spatial light modulation device provided for a predetermined color light beam, whose amount of light entering the incident surface S1 is the maximum, in the color light beams. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
