PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which reduces charging shortage caused by scraped powder of a photoreceptor drum, which adheres to and accumulated downstream a cleaning blade nip and developer additives sloughing off, falling down, and adhering to a charging device. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the photoreceptor drum 1; the charging device 2 to charge the photoreceptor drum 1 in contact with a surface of the drum; an exposing device 3 to form an electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor drum surface by exposing; a developing device 4 to develop the electrostatic latent image with a developer to obtain a toner image; a transfer device 5 to print the toner image on a recording material 10; and a cleaner 6 having a cleaning blade 60 to clean the toner remaining on the photoreceptor drum after printing to the recording material 10 from above the drum. It turns the photoreceptor drum 1 for a prescribed period after prescribed time when the photoreceptor drum 1 is not driven after printing where image formation on the recording material 10 is terminated.
