摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode material for a lithium ion secondary battery which achieves high volume and satisfactory cycle properties. SOLUTION: A nanosize particle 1 contains an element A-1 and an element A-2 as two kinds of elements selected from the group consisting of Si, Sn, Al, Pb, Sb, Bi, Ge, In and Zn, and has a first phase 3 as the single substance or solid solution of the element A-1 and a second phase 5 as the simple substance or solid solution of the element A-2. Both of the first phase 3 and the second phase 5 are exposed to the outer surfaces, and the outer surfaces of the first phase and the second phase are non-spherical.
