<p>The socket has a coaxial extension sleeve which is elastically deformable and into which the catheter tube is entered. The extension sleeve is fitted with an external collet with a coned bore which radially deforms the bore of the sleeve to grip the catheter tube. The socket has an axial hollow mandrel which enters the passage of the catheter tube as the tube slides into the cylindrical annular space between the mandrel and the socket extension sleeve. The tube is radially clamped between mandrel and extension sleeve as the sleeve is deformed by application of the collet. The collet (10) is pref. screw-threaded internally and conically tapered so that it tightens radially as it is screwed further on to the sleeve (6). The sleeve wall is pref. split longitudinally from its outer end to its attachment to the body of the socket.</p> |
