PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program editing device and a program editing method for coping with to make handling by a user convenient even for a device capable of simultaneously recording programs of a plurality of channels and for instance, even when the device has the number of automatic chapter functions which can be provided is smaller than the number of programs which can be recorded simultaneously. SOLUTION: A television broadcast receiver 111, having a function of simultaneously recording the plurality of programs using HDDs (Hard Disk Drive) 270 and 280 or the like, is provided with a chapter division part 290 for dividing the program to be recorded into a plurality of chapters, and is provided with a chapter division control part 261d for controlling to execute chapter division selectively for one of the programs to be recorded simultaneously.
