The device (1) has a transport device comprising drive devices (6) that are provided at two edges in a width direction (5). Multiple thread holders e.g. thread hooks, are movable in a transport direction (4). Each drive device is guided to an end of a transport area (2) via a deflection device. The deflection device comprises a deflection axis (14), where the axis and the width direction enclose a pre-determined angle of larger than forty five degree.
