STERILIZING AGENT FOR CATIONIC-RESISTANT BACTERIA AND METHOD FOR USING THE SAME

A sterilizing agent for cation-resistant bacteria including 5-chloro-2-methyl-4- isothiazoline-3-one as an effective components and designed for use in combination with a cationic surfactant is disclosed. A method for sterilizing cation-resistant bacteria by bringing 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazoline-3-one into contact with cation-resistant bacteria in the presence of a cationic surfactant is also disclosed. Bacteria having resistance to cationic surfactants can be killed or controlled by using 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazoline-3-one in combination with a cationic surfactant, thereby resolving the problem that could not be hereintofore resolved.
