<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system recognizing the surrounding state of each luminaire in an emergency, at a remote distance, and simultaneously attaining an inspecting function indispensable for a luminaire operating in an emergency, by using a plurality of luminaires installed to operate in an emergency. <P>SOLUTION: In addition to the lighting system 8 in which in guide lights 11, each guide light 11 performs inspection operation of automatically turning on light by a power source for emergency use for a fixed time; a controller 41 monitors the state of each guide light 11 and records the state as an individual history of each guide light 11; and the individual history of each guide light 11 recorded in the controller 41 can be confirmed by a monitor 7; a telephone calling function attaining speech communication between optional guide lights 11 can be provided by a speech communication start switch 71 and an intercom unit 72 of the monitor 7 by using the system 8.
