PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control signal receiver for further reducing power consumption by stopping clock while an apparatus is powered off. SOLUTION: The remote control receiver includes: a relay switch for turning on-off power supplied from a commercial power supply; a standby power supply supplied with power from the output of the relay switch and outputting standby power; a relay drive circuit for controlling the on-off of the relay switch by using the standby power; a microcomputer for controlling the relay drive circuit and a main power supply by using the standby power; an oscillator for oscillating a clock for causing the microcomputer to perform a normal mode operation; and an infrared ray receiving part for inputting a light reception signal from an external remote controller by using the standby power, shaping the signal and transmitting the shaped light reception signal to the microcomputer. In the receiver, the microcomputer controls on the basis of the shaped light reception signal so that the oscillation of oscillator is activated or the relay switch is turned on.
