<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion secondary battery, including a reference electrode structure capable of appropriately detecting the potential of a positive electrode plate or a negative electrode plate, while suppressing the obstruction of the transfer of lithium ions in an electrolyte, to provide a vehicle mounting the lithium ion secondary battery, and to provide battery-mounting apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A lithium ion secondary battery 1 includes a power generating element 20 having a plate-shaped positive electrode 30, a plate-shaped negative electrode 40, and a separator 50 interposed between the electrodes; a battery case 60; a lithium ion-containing electrolyte 80; and a plate-shaped reference electrode structure 10 arranged so as to come in contact with the electrolyte 80.
