PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device for growing organisms, enabling efficient use of LEDs and reduction in consumed energy. SOLUTION: The illumination device 1 includes modules 3a, 3b structured using LED units 10, and a cooling device 100. The cooling device 100 includes: a pump 101 forming a closed pipe path; a primary pump pipe 103 and a secondary pump pipe 111; chiller cases 70 respectively for the LED units 10; unit-to-unit pipes 105 connecting the chiller cases 70 to one another; module-to-module pipes 107; a pipe 109 between seedling beds to be illuminated; a heat-releasing part 120; and the like. The heat-releasing part 120 is buried under a seedling bed 510. The cooling device 100 cools the LEDs by flowing circulation liquid through the inside of the closing pipe path using the pump 101. The circulation liquid whose temperature rises due to cooling of the LED flows through the heat-releasing part 120 and the heat of the circulation liquid is released to the seedling bed 510 so as to warm the seedling bed 510.
