PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger for clearly indicating the charging state of a cylindrical battery so that all users can easily recognize the state, and clearly indicating the charging state by emitting light, over a wide area of the surface of the cylindrical battery. SOLUTION: The charger has a case 1, having a battery pocket 2 for loading a plurality of rechargeable cylindrical batteries 3 arranged in parallel in a removable manner, a charging circuit 10 housed in the case 1 to charge the batteries loaded in the battery pocket 2, and a charging state indicator 4 for detecting the charging state of the batteries loaded in the battery pocket 2 and indicating the charging state of the batteries by light illumination conditions. The indicator 4 is provided with light sources 6, disposed at the end of the battery pocket 2 and radiating light from between adjacent parallel cylindrical batteries 3 in the longitudinal direction onto the surfaces of the cylindrical batteries 3. In the charger, the light sources 6 shines light on the surfaces of adjacent cylindrical batteries 3 to indicate the charging state of the cylindrical batteries 3 loaded in the battery pocket 2.
