摘要 Provided is a method for manufacturing a membrane electrode assembly that improves sealing reliability, mechanical strength, and handleability in a proton exchange membrane electrolyte fuel cell. In the method for manufacturing a membrane electrode assembly, membrane electrode joint bodies, the gas diffusion layers of which are different in size on the anode and cathode sides, are prepared. Upon providing a plastic frame at the outer peripheral edges of the membrane electrode joint bodies by molding, protrusion portions or concave and convex portions are provided on each of the upper and lower dies used in the molding. The intrusion of the material of the plastic frame into the gas diffusion layers and/or electrode layers is thereby suppressed to the minimum and a warp deformation at the outer peripheral edges of the large gas diffusion layer and other layers is prevented.
