A weatherseal to be installed in a door or window opening includes a spine 12, a resilient foam core 20, an intumescent material 26, and a liner 28. The spine has first and second ends, the first end adapted, preferably with fins 14, for mounting the weatherseal to the door or window opening. The resilient foam core 20 is attached to the second end 18 of the spine and the intumescent material 26 is arranged proximate an edge of the weatherseal. The liner 28 encloses the flexible foam core 20 and the intumescent material 26, the liner 28 may have perforations in it or another area of weakness to allow the intumescent expanding material 26 access to the heat source. The spine 12 and fins 14 preferably being manufactured from polypropylene, PVC etc. The weatherseal or a portion may be color-coded to identify the weatherseal for fire rated applications. |
