<p>A vehicle drive transmission and steering apparatus, for an all terrain vehicle (ATV), comprises a triple-differential gearbox, in which ring-gears 80L, 80R of both wheels are in - fixed-ratio relationship with an engine-shaft through which motive power enters the gearbox. Wheel-sun-gears 83L, 83R have steer-wheel-gears 78L, 78R which mesh with respective steer-wheel-gears 76L, 76R that are unitary with steer-sun-gears 69L, 69R of steer differentials. Steer-shafts 27L, 27R of the steer-differentials are braked by brake-discs 67L, 67R carried unitarily on the steer-sun-gears 69L, 69R. A reverse selector sleeves 34 is mounted on an input shaft 23 and a high/low selector sleeve 54 is mounted on an inter-shaft 38. The high/low selector sleeve 54 locks gears 50, 52 to the inter-shaft 38 so that they drive steer-differential-housing 60 via gears 58, 63. The gearbox is used in conjunction with a CVT, and is especially suitable for amphibious operations.</p> |
