PURPOSE:To ensure a clear recognition for the fact that the short and long hands overlap, by turning on and off the display of one hand in case the radiately arranged long and short hands overlap. CONSTITUTION:The different 60 sets of radial segment electrodes are driven by the minute counter CT1 and the 60-notation hour counter CT2 which receives an output from CT1 with every 12min via the decoders D1 and D2, control circuit A and driving circuit DR. Thus a display of hour and minute is given by the long and short hands arranged radially. For instance, in case the long and short hands overlap at 12:00 or other time, the open/close of the gate is controlled for circuit A by the outputs of decoders D1 and D2 to apply the 1-sec period signal (b) or the like to the circuit DR. Thus either one of the long and short hands has a blinking. Otherwise both hands can be blinked. Thus an overlap of the long and short hands never be mistaken for a fault unlike the case in which the display of one hand is erased. |
