PURPOSE:To prevent lowering of the read rate due to the operation miss, by providing a roller and an indicating circuit, which regulate the distance between the head and the character surface, the tilt angle, etc., in the read head part of a hand scanner. CONSTITUTION:A pair of rollers 5 are fitted to box body 3 of the read head of the hand scanner. Shafts 9 of rollers 5 are supported by spring 8, and adjustable connection piece 11 is provided for these roller shafts 9. When head surface 2 of the read head is placed on the character surface, roller shafts 9 and connection piece 11 are brought into contact with each other, and it is indicated by lighting of indication lamp 6 that the head is placed in the proper position. If the distance between head surface 2 and the character surface or the tilt angle are slipped off from the proper position, the indication lamp is extinguished to instruct the operator to correct the position of the hand scanner, and thus, lowering of the read rate due to the operation miss is prevented. |
