PURPOSE:To obtain a positive vibration damping effect in the vibration damper to be used in the piping system of a heat power plant and the like by a method wherein a weight is imparted with accelerative rotation effect in addition to its normal vibration damping effect when an abrupt vibration occurs. CONSTITUTION:A main case 1 comprises a large diameter part 1a and a small diameter part 1b, both forming a substantial cylinder, and a cover 1c to be fitted to the outer end of the large diameter part 1a and a handle 1d. On the other hand, subsidiary case 2 comprises a hollow cylinder having at one end a handle 2a, and formed at the other end a threaded hole. Through this threaded hole is inserted a screw rod 3, which is provided at the other end with a disc 3a. Within the large diameter part 1a of the main case 1, a damping shaft 4 is supported by a bearing 5 and a ball bearing B and mounted with the weight W. the ball bearing B is constituted by an outer wheel 7, and inner wheel 6, a ball 8 and a retainer 9. The retainer 9 is fixed to the disc 3a by means of a pin 10 and includes a finger 9a which holds rotatably the ball 8 between the both wheels 6 and 7. |
