摘要 An optical communication system, device, and method are disclosed. The optical communication system includes at least one relay, where one end of the relay is coupled to at least one terminal node and the other end is coupled to a central node to implement bi-directional communications between the terminal node and the central node. The relay is configured to receive a first optical signal from the terminal node and a second optical signal from the central node. The relay restores a data electrical signal from the first optical signal, modulates the data electrical signal to at least some optical signals of the second optical signal, and sends a third optical signal obtained through modulation to the central node. With the technical solution of the present invention, the relay does not need upstream optical sources, and this saves optical sources and makes the wavelength allocation more flexible.
