A method for statistical multiplexing of a plurality of video programs encoding units, including a step of controlling ongoing encoding units of said video programs on encoders (E i ), said method comprising the following steps:
- controlling occupancy of buffers (B i );
- estimating encoding parameters (Q i ), to be assigned to encoders (E i ), with taking into account said buffers (B i ) occupancy
resulting in a joint regulation of encoders (E i ) and buffers (B i ).
