PURPOSE:To automatically supply signatures in a loosened condition by a method wherein a device for supplying signatures to a gathering machine for forming a book is provided with a moving device for feeding stacked signatures upward, a conveyor leading from the moving device to a pocket of the gathering machine, and a loop formed belt for loosening the signatures. CONSTITUTION:A predetermined amount of a bound form of papers or sheets such as signatures A previously stacked on a support plate 14 of the moving device 1 by manual operation is moved upward by the function of the device 1. Then, the right end of the signature thus moved up is engaged with a loop formed belt 32 constituting the front part of the loop formed belt 3 being moved, and said end is turned up and bent to be separated from the succeeding signature A. In this bent condition, the right end of the signature A is engaged with a rear-part loop formed belt 33, is separated completely from the succeeding signature A and is transferred onto the conveyor 2 being moved. thereafter, each of the signatures thus separated and loosened is transferred to the pocket 7 by the conveyor 2, is supplied into the pocket 7 through a roller 26 in the loosened condition and a predetermined amount of the signatures is stored in the pocket 7. |
