PURPOSE:To enable the top surface of a folded sheet to be kept always flat by a method wherein the folding device is provided with a vertically movable pressing plate for pressing a folded part, and a mount base for the folding device is deformed into an angular shape in accordance with the folded amount of the sheet. CONSTITUTION:The paper 1 fed in by the rotation of a carrying belt 5 is firstly moved toward the left-hand carrying belt 5 due to its characteristic nerve. Then, when the paper 1 comes into contact with the belt 5, it is foled toward a guide 7 due to the frictional force and is folded and compressed by the folding plate 8 which is moved up and down at a predetermined frequency. The paper 1 which is successively fed in is moved to the right and it is folded and compressed in a similar manner to the above. As the paper 1 thus folded and stacked, the mount base 12 for the paper is gradually lowered by a folded-height controller and is deformed into the angular shape, ensuring that the top surface of the folded paper 1 is maintained in a flat condition substantially the same as the condition at the time of starting. |
