In order to prevent destructively acting thermal shock stresses when supplying cold water into a hot pipeline, both the housing (1) and the supply connecting piece (4, 5) of the mixing piece are equipped with a heat trap (6, 7). The heat trap (6', 7') of the supply connecting piece (4, 5) passes through the heat trap of the housing (1), forming an annular intermediate space (8). The housing (1) is always filled with hot fluid and to this end is arranged deeper than the adjacent sections (12, 13) of the hot pipeline. The mixing piece is preferably inserted in the cooling medium system of a nuclear reactor in the course of a hot spray line of the pressure vessel. <IMAGE>
