The insert has a base section (28) including a bearing surface (33) that surrounds a through-hole. A securing projection (25a) or a securing groove (26a) is formed in a cross sectioned saw tooth. Projection flanks or groove flanks of the securing projection or securing groove are formed with abutment surfaces for stopping on an abutment surface of a complementary retainer (12). The abutment surface of the retainer is aligned perpendicular to another bearing surface (16), and extends in a radial direction between the through-hole and outer circumference of the base section. An independent claim is also included for a machining tool comprising a supporting section.
