PURPOSE: An ad-hoc wireless IM system in an intermittent communication environment and a method thereof are provided to supply temporary friend list to a target of a mobile terminal available for current connection existing a communication area of a wireless router, thereby rapidly providing an IM service without complex messenger registration and withdrawal procedure. CONSTITUTION: A mobile IM server(100) provides a temporary friend list including a mobile terminal(200) is a state which is available of wireless communication and supply a mobile terminal including the friend list. The mobile terminal transceives other different terminal included in the temporary friend list and IM data. If an IM participating request message is received from the mobile terminal with a response about a beacon message of the mobile IM server, the mobile IM server includes the mobile terminal in a temporary friend list.
