<p>PURPOSE:To recover a sulfur component reacted with an absorbent of hydrogen sulfide as elemental sulfur, by reactng hydrogen sulfide-containing gas with composite metal oxide XYIVO3 (wherein X is zinc, iron, manganese or steel and YIV is titanium or zirconium). CONSTITUTION:Composite metal oxide is brought into contact with hydrogen sulfide to perform reaction as shown by the formula. Composite metal sulfide XS.YIVO2 is taken out of a system to be reacted with sulfur dioxide. By this reaction, the composite metal sulfide is returned to the original composite metal oxide XYIVO3 while gaseous sulfur S2 is formed. In this case, the composite metal sulfide XS.YIVO3 is regenerated by the reaction with sulfur dioxide at 1,000-1,200 deg.C. The generated gaseous sulfur is cooled to 120 deg.C or less to be recovered as solid elemental sulfur.</p> |
