The main part (10) of the device includes auxiliary parts for measuring and/or finishing the implant. The auxiliary parts comprise recesses (12-12) in the top and/or bottom side of the main part, which have a diameter corresponding to the external diameter of a head plate for the implant. Inside each recess is a cavity (13-13) either for locating a bell-shaped part mounted beneath the head plate and used to secure the implant to the stirrup in the middle ear or for locating a plunger mounted beneath the head plate and used to support the implant on top of the stirrup foot plate in the middle ear. The main part of the device is disc-shaped and has different length implant clips (11-11) secured to it. An applicator is used to insert the clips into the middle ear during an operation, after they have been detached from the main part of the device.
