PURPOSE:To simplify analytical procedure for quantitative analysis of metal contained in an oily substance by using silica powder and aluminosilicate powder both in specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:A specified amt. of sample oil is weighed on a Pt dish. An auxiliary agent for determination comprising silica powder having deposited Pt and aluminosilicate powder, both satisfying <=0.1g/ml bulk density (BD) and >=50m<2>/g specific surface area (SA), or 0.1g/ml<BD<=0.5g/ml and >=100m<2>/g SA, is added to absorb the sample oil. The Pt dish is then heated on a hot plate to proceed carbonization until generation of hydrocarbon vapor ceases and the gloss of the sample disappears. Further, the carbonized sample is transferred into an electric furnace and is converted to ash until the blackness of the carbonized product disappears at a specified temp. Thereafter, the Pt dish is cooled at the outside of the electric furnace to RT. For the determination of Ni, HNO3 and HF are added and the mixture is heated to dryness on a hot plate. Further procedures are performed in accordance with the standard regulated by the Japan Petroleum Society. |
