PURPOSE:To judges automatically whether an electrostatic electrometer is normal or not and perform automatic calibration when the electrometer is judged to be abnormal by switching a photosensitive body to the connection state of a DC power source and performing the calibration when the electrostatic electrometer is judged to be abnormal. CONSTITUTION:The electrostatic electrometer 23 is provided behind an electrostatic charging position to detect the surface potential of the photosensitive body 4, and switch means 31 and 33 switch the photosensitive body 4 selectively to a grounded state and the connection state of the DC power source 34 in the device. A control means 41 judges whether the electrometer 23 is normal or not on the basis of the output detection signal of the electrometer 23 and calibrates the electrometer 23 when the electrometer 23 is judged to be abnormal. Therefore, the devices incorporated in the electrophotographic device are utilized to judges whether the electrometer is normal or not and perform the calibration. |
