PURPOSE:To average the density of ''1'' in code words by adjusting the number of code ''1''s in the next encoded block in accordance with that in an encoded block obtained by encoding original data. CONSTITUTION:Original data 20 inputted with 3-bit constitution from an input circuit 10 is converted to encoded data 22 of 6-bit constitution with 2-8 run length limited by an encoder 12 and is recorded on a recording medium by a recording circuit 14. The encoder 12 performs code conversion so that code ''1'' of a minimum value exists at least in continuous encoded blocks. A reproducing circuit 14 reproduces and outputs encoded data, and this encoded data is decoded by a decoder 16 and is outputted to an output circuit 100. |
