PURPOSE: A strip apparatus for a coated wire is provided to reduce costs for replacing a metal blade by removing a process of peeling a coating surrounding an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: A coating removing apparatus removes a coating surrounding the surface of an optical fiber(110). A coating removing agent includes a first material which is reacted with the coating, thereby removing the coating. The coating removing agent is made of a second material, having no reaction with the coating, of which specific gravity is lower than that of the first material. A container stores the coating removing agent. A fixing unit(106) is arranged on the upper part of the container to fix an optical fiber. The first material contains CH2Cl2 undiluted solution. The second material contains water.
