PURPOSE: A method for removing a coating is provided to improve productivity and production rate by preventing a crack from being spread and an optical from being cut. CONSTITUTION: A ribbon fiber(102) is formed with a plurality of optical fibers(104) and a coating surrounding the optical fiber. A part of the ribbon fiber is dipped in a coating removal agent(212) and is removed from the ribbon fiber to expose the part of the ribbon fiber outside. The coating removal agent contains a first material which is reacted with the coating of the dipped ribbon fiber and also contains a second material(216) which is not reacted with the coating of the dipped ribbon fiber.
