PURPOSE: A mobile terminal and a method for converting a mode of the mobile terminal are provided to automatically optimize a user environment properly for a speaker phone mode. CONSTITUTION: A sensor unit(140) senses slope. The sensor unit generates a mode conversion request to a speaker phone mode. A controller(130) converts a call mode from a basic mode to the speaker phone mode by a mode converting request to the speaker phone mode generated from the sensor unit. The controller operates an automatic execution application so that the mobile terminal is automatically executed in an activated speaker phone mode.
