<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain consistency in the sense of perspective between respective objects in an image in the display of superimposed information. <P>SOLUTION: A set-top box 200 transmits a parallax information set, which includes parallax information of the another with respect to one of a left-eye image and a right-eye image, together with stereoscopic image data, which includes left-eye image data and right-eye image data, to external equipment (a television receiver or the like) by an HDMI interface. When transmitting the parallax information set by the HDMI interface, (1) an HDMI vendor specific infoframe is used, or (2) the active space of a 3D video format in the frame packing method or the like is used. A first type of parallax information set includes a predetermined number of parallax vectors (the parallax information) and location information (a block ID) that indicates a location in an image region to which each parallax vector belongs.
