VEHICLE CALIBRATION USING DATA COLLECTED DURING NORMAL OPERATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for optimizing the performance of a vehicle under a normal operation condition.

SOLUTION: The vehicle system regulates one or more vehicle operating parameters in a closed loop in accordance with data received from a sensor. A portable vehicle communication interface module is selectively mounted to the vehicle without prohibiting the normal operation of the vehicle. When the vehicle communication interface module is mounted to a vehicle, adjustment performed by the vehicle system in closed loop operation is recorded by the vehicle communication interface module. These values are used for updating calibration information used as a default value by the vehicle system afterwards.
