<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect even a face that has not been detected in face detection processing by divided regions. <P>SOLUTION: A recording apparatus divides an input image signal into a plurality of regions and comprises a first video signal processing section, a first face detecting section and an encoding section by divided region. The recording apparatus further includes: a resolution converting section for performing thinning processing on an image related to the input image signal; a second video signal processing section for converting the image thinned by the resolution converting section into a video signal to produce a second video signal; and a second face detecting section for detecting a face from the second video signal produced by the second video signal processing section. The encoding means selectively uses information output from the first face detecting section and information output from the second face detecting section to perform encoding processing. Thus, information (face) which cannot be detected from a divided image can be detected, while image spread over a boundary part of divided regions is protected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
