PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device having an automatic backup function which is high in safety and is suitable for successively storing the past history, in spite of a simple device. SOLUTION: A unit 100 includes a connection terminal 120 of 3.5 inch drive specification; 2.5 inch drive 130, and a controller 140. A unit 200 includes a nonvolatile memory 230. The units 100 and 200 are freely attachable/detachable, and when both of them are joined to each other, the outer shape of the device satisfies the specification of 3.5 inch drive. The controller 140 uses the drive 130 and the memory 230 by performing mirroring, and automatically backs up the data in the driver 130 to the memory 230 in a normal mode, The controller 140 copies the data in the memory 230 to the driver 130 in a restoration mode. A plurality of sets of units 200 are prepared, and periodically exchanged and stored, so that the past data history can be successively stored. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
