PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical apparatus that moves an optical element by means of a vibration type linear actuator, with satisfactory impact resistance. SOLUTION: The optical apparatus includes an optical element holding member 12 movable in a first direction, and vibration type linear actuators 18 and 19. One actuator member selected from a vibration member 19 and contact member 18 is held by one of a holding member of a holding member for a base member 23 or an optical element via holding mechanisms 21, 22 displaceable in a second direction including the direction in which the vibration member and contact member are brought into press contact with each other. The other actuator member is held by the other holding member. An interval L1 between a part 21 closest to the one holding member 12 of the holding mechanism and the holding member, and an interval L2 between parts 12e, 12f of the optical element holding member, which are closest to the other holding member 23, satisfy the following relation in a second direction: L1>L2.
