PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a stable image without any image defects such as cleaning failure from the initial stage of toner use even when a toner of a small particle diameter and high circularity is used. SOLUTION: In the image forming method, the whole surface of an image forming area of a photoreceptor is subjected to charge, exposure and development steps until the following inequalities (1) and (2) are satisfied by using an electrophotographic photoreceptor having an initial average coefficient of dynamic friction to a cleaning blade measured with a Heidon friction tester of≤0.3, wherein a graph curve showing the relationship between an average coefficient of dynamic friction measured by an evaluation test of average coefficient of dynamic friction transition and a rotational frequency of the photoreceptor locally has a peak. In the image forming method, thereafter a cleaning step is performed without performing a transfer step, and then a series of steps comprising charge, exposure, development, transfer and cleaning are performed.
