PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-domain liquid crystal display device excellent in visibility. SOLUTION: The multi-domain liquid crystal display device includes, for every pixel region defined by crossing of a gate line and a data line formed on an insulating substrate: a first pixel electrode 190a connected to a first thin film transistor; and a second pixel electrode 190b capacitively connected to the first pixel electrode overlapping with a connection electrode connected to the first pixel electrode. The second pixel electrode is electrically connected to a maintaining electrode line 131 through a second thin film transistor, and a higher voltage is established to the second pixel electrode than that of the first pixel electrode in relation to a shared electrode. At this time, the first pixel electrode has a larger area than the second pixel electrode, a low voltage to high voltage being a ratio of 0.50-0.95. Thus, a wide viewing angle liquid crystal display device with improved side visibility can be obtained, and at the same time, excellent aperture ratio and transmittance can be secured.
