PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a boundary level between a linear region and a logarithmic region in photoelectric conversion characteristic of an imaging apparatus and an inclination of the logarithmic region. SOLUTION: In a light-shielding pixel, an electric charge is first injected from a floating diffusion 14 to a photodetector 11. Next, a transfer register 12 is turned off, the floating diffusion 14 is set to a reset potential and a state is maintained by a predetermined time interval. Thereafter, the floating diffusion 14 is brought into a floating state, the transfer transistor 12 is then turned on, and an electric charge is injected from the photodetector 11 to the floating diffusion 14.
