PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable image without image defects such as cleaning failure from the initial stage of toner use even when a toner having a small particle diameter and high circularity is used. SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus using an electrophotographic photoreceptor having an initial average coefficient of dynamic friction measured with a Heidon friction tester of≤0.3, wherein a graph curve showing the relationship between an average coefficient of dynamic friction measured by an evaluation test of average coefficient of dynamic friction transition and the number of rotations of the photoreceptor locally has a peak. When a peak maximum value of average coefficient of dynamic friction is represented as A, the number of rotations of the photoreceptor at that time as nA, and average coefficients of dynamic friction at the time when the number of rotations of the photoreceptor is n rotations (nA<n) and at the time when the number of rotations of the photoreceptor is n+50 rotations are represented asμn andμn+50, respectively, and whenμn+50 at the time of first satisfying the following expressions (i) and (ii) is represented as B, the following expression (iii) is established.
