PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a date stamp which is provided with a lock structure for preventing date from being changed and does not change the date by turning an adjustment dial unless the lock structure is unlocked. SOLUTION: In the date stamp having a lock ring 30 for controlling release of a cover cylinder 5, the lock structure is installed between the body case 1 and the lock ring 30. The lock structure comprises a locking piece 35 for controlling turning of the lock ring 30 at a locked position, a locking spring 36 for holding the locking piece 35 at the locked position, an unlocking groove 38 provided on the periphery of the body case 1 facing a storing part 33, and so on. With the locking piece 35 displaced to the unlocked position with a key 45, the lock projection 49 of the locking piece 35 is made ready to be engaged with the unlocking groove 38, releasing the turning restriction by the locking piece 35. In this state, by operating to displace the locking ring 30 to the unlocking position to release the cover cylinder 5, change of date is made possible by operating the adjustment dial 22.
