<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a meshing engagement means for coupling a reverse gear to a transmission shaft to smoothly operate when a shift position of an automatic transmission changes from a position "D" to a position "R". <P>SOLUTION: With the vehicle speed detected by a vehicle speed detection means zero, a first time in which the shift position changes from the position "D" to the position "R" and a second time in which the shift position changes from the position "D" to a position "P" are detected by a shift position sensor. When the first time is shorter than or equal to a first threshold value or the second time is shorter than or equal to a second threshold value, timing at which the meshing engagement means operates at the position "R" is delayed. As the meshing engagement means is thus operated after drag of a hydraulic clutch is removed and the meshing engagement means becomes freely rotatable, the meshing engagement means can be smoothly engaged with the reverse gear and the occurrence of abnormal wear can be avoided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
